SS EDMUND FITZGERALD ship first day cover with a postmark from Liberty, MO  dated June 15, 2020. Blue photo cachet #8900 of the ship by Alvin Eckert USCS #9964.
This 729' bulk cargo freighter was transporting ore when she sank in a storm on Nov 10. 1975 on Lake Superior. See her web pages for the details of her design, construction and service history.  29 crewmen were lost in this disaster.
Cover is franked with a  3 cent Soo Locks stamp # 1078 on a 55 cent American Flag stamped envelope # U-700 (FDOI).
