Estate find. It’s a magnetic bobby pin holder. As you probably know, they make similar items today, and there was once a Pin-Master Wristlet sold as, "Your Third Hand in the Beauty Salon."
This example that I have for your consideration is much more masculine looking, kind of primitive, and it certainly has some age to it. I don’t know the exact age, and I don’t feel comfortable guessing, but certainly several decades old. There is no maker’s mark or anything like that.
On the table, the total length is approximately 8.5”. It’s difficult to measure the wrist size, but it seems to be in the 6” to 7.5” area. Certainly a smaller bracelet, ladies size. The magnet goes on the side of your wrist, not on top or bottom. The item weighs two ounces.
The top and sides of the magnet are painted brown. There’s evident paint loss to the two bars. Smaller spots of paint loss here and there. There are a few nicks and bumps to the edges. Overall dullness, especially prominent to the bottom. There’s dirtiness to the tight areas. It’s a crude item.
The leather band is badly worn, dulled and faded. Ugly darkening and discoloration. Terribly soiled, dingy. Evident wear from use, age and poor storage. Very concerning.
The neat old item is well represented in the provided photos, so I ask that you please closely review them to best judge what you are bidding on.
